37 Ways to Improve Your Life Right Now!

Have you ever wondered: What can I do to improve my life right now? Sometimes a few small changes can have a profound effect on the way we experience life.
With that in mind, I invite you to consider the following:

1. Make the choice to be happy. The biggest part of being happy is to simply make up your mind to be a happy person. It’s not about circumstances, it’s
about choice.

2. Count your blessings every day. We all have blessings in our lives. Take the time each and every day to appreciate yours, and your view of life will
be one of gratitude.

3. Let go of negative thoughts. Don’t poison yourself by dwelling on negative thoughts. Your life reflects your dominate thought patterns, make yours positive.

4. Let go of negative people. Like it or not, your attitude is susceptible to the dominate attitude of those around you. If they are negative, let them
go and don’t look back.

5. Be considerate of others. Showing consideration is a way of honoring others. Most people will respond in kind. When you honor others, you honor yourself.

6. Get regular exercise. We all need to move and breath. Too much sitting robs you of the sense of being alive. Buy out time for exercise and you will
feel better mentally, emotionally, and physically.

7. Keep learning new things. Learning is what keeps us excited about life. Your mind has an almost infinite ability to take in knowledge. Feed your head.

8. Smile at everyone. A smile can light up a single heart, or a whole room. It’s a wonderful free gift you can give to anyone who looks your way. Contribute
to the bank of happiness, smile.

9. Be polite. Manners create an atmosphere of mutual respect and goodwill. Rudeness reveals a complete lack of character. It’s right to be polite and crude
to be rude.

10. Practice listening. If we are really listening we will always hear more than words. Try to hear the meaning behind the words without presuming you
already know.

11. Build others up. Life can be pretty hard at times and a little encouragement from you can help others feel more confident and capable. Help them out
when you can.

12. Find reasons to laugh. With the right attitude we can find humor almost everywhere. Laughter is powerful medicine, so laugh often.

13. Be completely honest. Honesty comes from within. It takes humility and courage to be totally honest with ourselves and others. It’s also incredibly
liberating.

14. Be tactful. Being honest does not mean being brutal, even with yourself. Don’t needlessly offend others in the name of honesty, use tact and diplomacy.

15. Look for way to practice giving. There are hundreds of ways to give, and ample opportunities for giving. Not only can something as simple as a smile
or kind word can change somebody else’s whole day, but their response can change yours.

16. Be creative. This would be a good place to add your own tip for improving your life right now. Go ahead, be creative!

17. Watch for cause and effect. What you do and say has a huge impact on your life. It is in your best interest to become aware of the connection. Notice
the effect of your words and actions so you can make any needed adjustments.

18. View your mistakes as learning experiences. In new activities, it’s rare that we get it right the first time. Evaluating our results and adjusting
our approach is how we learn. The better we get at this process the quicker we will produce our intended result.

19. Challenge yourself with large and small goals. Goals give us something to focus on. They also provide a sense of purpose and direction. But remember,
you can’t achieve a goal you haven’t set. So, set goals in every area of life.

20. Stop comparing yourself to others. You are not them, so there is no basis for comparison. Strive to be the best possible version of yourself, and learn
to celebrate your individuality.

21. Stop judging others. We rarely have as much insight into another persons life as we think we do. If they do something you don’t approve of, judge the
act, not the person.

22. Eliminate time wasters from your life. We all want more time, and yet we all waste time on meaningless pursuits. Get rid of them and you will have
the time you wished for.

23. Don’t turn everything into a big deal. If you turn little issues into big issues it will rob you of your joy. Give yourself and everyone else a break,
learn to let it go.

24. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Learn to laugh at yourself, it’s liberating. When we take ourselves too seriously life becomes a struggle. Again,
let it go.

25. Avoid self-imposed limits. Strike all limiting words from your vocabulary, and limiting thoughts from your mind. You can do almost anything you set
your mind to, so don’t allow self-imposed limits to hold you back.

26. Don’t try to control other people. Your example may influence others, but you cannot control them. They have the same freedom of choice that you have.
Respect that.

27. Actively show appreciation. When someone does something nice for you, show them some appreciation. Acts of kindness, large and small, deserve recognition.

28. Use applied focus sessions to get more done. Applied Focus Sessions – a simple strategy that can increase productivity and free time. Give it a try,
it works.

29. Take breaks to clear your mind. You will accomplish more, be more focused, and experience less stress if you give your brain periodic “clearing” breaks
throughout the day.

30. Don’t waste energy in pointless debates. Everyone has an opinion, so what? Debating opinions is a colossal waste of time and energy, and it’s pointless.
It’s not always important to make your point. Let it go.

31. Be optimistic. Optimism is a wonderful mindset. It focuses your energy on possibility. Your whole world looks brighter through the window of optimism.

32. Set aside time for yourself. It’s great to be productive, but we are not machines. To function at optimal levels you must be well grounded. Make sure
you make enough time in your life for you and your loved ones.

33. Believe in yourself. You really are capable of amazing things. The only thing that can get between you and your dreams is self-doubt. Don’t let that
happen! Believe in yourself, and surround yourself with others who believe in you.

34. Be yourself and forget about impressing others. No matter what you do, some people will like you and some won’t. Why not just be yourself so that those
who do like you, like you for who you really are. Really, being yourself is impressive enough.

35. Accept responsibility for your life. This is the opposite of blaming others for your situation. When you accept responsibility, you assume complete
control of your life and close the door on excuses. It’s a powerful state.

36. Strive to create value. The more value you create the more valuable you become to the world around you. Many people are only concerned about creating
value for themselves, this is a selfish reality. Contribute the abundance around you and you will experience real abundance in return.

37. Be aware of your spiritual need. Whether you are willing to acknowledge it or not, we all have a spiritual need. Taking steps to fill that need will
add a vital dimension to your life.

Merry Christmas

Today is a good day.. Jesus was born in a manger and He died for our sins. I celebrated my Christmas with joy although some unlucky things happened few days ago... Yesterday, there was lots of bees in my house.. wanted to ask professional people to clean my place but my father managed to do it.. luckily my father wasn't stung by the bees.. Last night, we wanted to go to Chin Fu Methodist Church but it was late... so we went to Faith Methodist church but no one was there too.. at last, we went home without going to church.. so upset but never mind.. didn't watch performance last night but it's okay.. this morning, I went to church with my parents. each person was given a cup.. When the pastor preached, he said, "let's rejoice in the Lord. If you don't have good relationship with your friends, how can you rejoice in Him?" It's very true... so I've to learn to rejoice in Him.. rejoicing is not equal to happiness. we are happy because of environment.. rejoicing in the Lord just means no matter what situations we are in, we able to be joyful because we've Jesus in our life to control us.. We may have lots of Christmas gifts during this Christmas... but let's just remember one thing: that Jesus is the greatest above all... Jesus is our saviour and we must invite him to come o into our lives. today, we went shopping for few hours... I was so happy and satisfied as I bought a slipper, a sandal, 3 bras and 2 t-shirts for myself.. My slipper has worn-out... but all these I've bought reminded me that I live in this world just for few years. We live in this world just for temporarily but life in Heaven is eternal... we have eternity in Heaven... I still have lots of worries but I must not let the worries eat me up.. I musn't keep dwelling in them... Though it's easier said than done, I've to choose to open my heart to God and believe that God will help me.. when I've tried my best, I've to just leave everything to Him and God will take care of what I've done. we live in hectic world and we need to ask the Lord to guide us in handling the pressure we've... so during this Christmas I just hope that God will give me peace and happiness... I pray God will help me to get out of my depression... I must learn to rejoice in Him no matter whatever circumstances... even though I was a bit sick and kept sneezing in church today, God restored my health again and now I'm better. I've allergy...Merry Christmas once again and Happy New Year 2012..
God bless everyone who reads this post.

Christmas Light

If you hitch your wagon to a star, be sure it's the Star of Bethlehem.

I've seen the face of Jesus...
It was a wondrous sight!

oh gentle touch of care;
If here it is so blessed,
what will it be up there?

I give Him my heart.

In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can!

One--who transforms our life--is plenty.

Love makes it a delight.

The joy of brightening a child's heart creates the magic of Christmas.
--W. C. Jones

Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.

--Roy Rogers

So remember while December
Brings the only Christmas Day,
In the year let there be Christmas
In the things you do and say;
Wouldn't life be worth the living
Wouldn't dreams be coming true
If we kept the Christmas spirit
All the whole year through?
--unknown

If we think of our heart,
rather than our purse,
as the reservoir
of our giving,
we shall find it
full all the time!
--David Dunn

There are two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle.
--Albert Einstein

I am not alone at all, I thought. I was never alone at all. And that, of course, is the message of Christmas. We are never alone. Not when the night is darkest, the wind coldest, the world seemingly most indifferent. For this is still the time God chooses.
--Taylor Caldwell

--Marjorie Holmes

Each day of the holidays comes bringing its own gifts.
Open your heart,
Untie the ribbons,
and enjoy the contents!

Were earth a thousand times as fair
Beset with gold and jewels rare
She yet were far too poor to be
A narrow cradle,
Lord, for Thee.
--Martin Luther

Love and life
That's why He came, and what He offers,
Christmas isn't just for children.
It's for the world.

Don't worry if your Christmas card list seems to be growing each year. Instead, be grateful! It just means you're making friends faster than you are losing them.

A little child
a shining star
a stable rude,
the door ajar.
Yet in that place
so crude, forlorn,
The Hope of all
the world was born.

I've Learnt Something

Yesterday, I was asked to call KL. The reason is I may be going to KL for a pre u course in March next year. Whenever I'm asked to call someone, I'll feel nervous and panic. I don't know how to speak.. I'm afraid to speak... But yesterday someone asked me to speak to the principal of MAB myself. At first, I was so nervous when the telephonist said all the staffs were busy and asked me to dial the extension. When the principal spoke to me, wasn't nervous anymore. I asked everything I wanted to ask.. I've learnt to be more confident and daring.. Previously, I used to ask my father to call someone I don't know when I needed anything. but now, I'm big enough to do things on my own and speak out. My father does not know what I want.. I know myself well... I know my needs.. I've to learn to take challenges in life.. Good experience....

100 ways to feel better

SLEEP BETTER
1. Get into good habits: Go to bed at the same time every day. If you can't fall asleep within 20 minutes, get up and only go back to bed when you feel
sleepy. Ensure that your bedroom is dark and quiet.
2. Take baths not showers: A bath 30 minutes before going to bed improves sleep, say researchers at the University of Texas.
3. Have more sex: An orgasm produces the hormone oxytocin, which gives a feeling of well-being and inertia. The sedative effects of the oxytocin-rush
help sleep to come more easily.
4. Try acupuncture: Trial results suggest that most insomniacs could benefit from acupuncture. Effects can last up to 18 months -- and one patient regained
her lost sense of smell, too.
5. Use earplugs: Noise is a common cause of sleep problems, and earplugs work in six out of 10 cases, according to research in Germany. If plugs don't
work, try masking noise with soft music.
6. Use lavender: According to research in France, the aroma of lavender oil can be as effective as prescription tranquillisers. In a research study in
London, an insomniac enjoyed her first complete night's sleep for four years after using aromatherapy oils. Lavender oil can be used in massage or in
the bath.
7. Take exercise: Researchers at Stanford University found that adults who took part in 16 weeks of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise significantly lessened
their sleep problems. The best time to exercise is five to six hours before bedtime, and it should be strenuous enough to make you sweat.
8. Have cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT): More effective than sleeping pills, according to Harvard University academics. The aim of CBT is to improve
sleep by getting rid of negative attitudes towards it.
9. Take valerian: The most commonly used herb for severe insomnia, valerian acts as a sedative, making falling asleep easier, and allowing for deeper sleep
cycles. Take it 30 minutes before going to bed.
10. Don't count sheep: In a study at Oxford University, 50 insomniacs were asked either to imagine a tranquil scene while trying to get to sleep, or to
count sheep. The sheep-counters took up to 20 minutes longer to nod off, probably because they were bored.

LOSE WEIGHT
1. Don't crash diet: A reason why eight out of 10 diets fail is that they are too strict. Research at the Mayo Clinic suggests a five-point plan: eat
breakfast every day; eat a variety of foods; limit daily intake of saturated fat, cholesterol and salt; cut back on sugar by using whole fruits rather
than juices, and avoid sugary soft drinks and alcohol; and eat smaller portions.
2. Beware fad diets: Doctors who reviewed low- carbohydrate, high-protein and low-fat diets expressed concern about their effectiveness. "The efficacy
and safety of many popular diets remains unproven1'' they warn in Nutrition in Clinical Care.
3. Consider supplements: There are more than 50 supplements promoted for weight loss, including conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), chromium, hydroxycitric
acid and pyruvate. Research found CLA reduced body fat by 9 per cent after one year in healthy men and women.
4. Eat calcium: It is thought that the more calcium there is in a fat cell, the more fat it will burn. American research suggests that three or four daily
servings of low-fat dairy products can help adjust the body's fat-burning machinery.
5. Take small bites: If you can't reduce what you eat, make your mouth smaller. The £200 DDS device is moulded to fit over the roof of the mouth, and
forces the wearer to take smaller bites.
6. Use your sense of smell: The Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago exposed 3,000 people to concentrated food smells when they
were feeling hungry. Results show they lost 2per cent in body weight each month.
7. Get a good night's sleep: Levels of an appetite-suppressing hormone dropped 18 per cent when volunteers at Chicago University slept for only fours hours
for two nights running.

8. Eat eggs: Leucine, an essential amino acid found in eggs, boosts the loss of body fat.

9. Try group therapy: Research in Australia suggests that dieters who are on unsupported diets had increased stress levels.
10. Have a romance: Psychologists at Indiana University found that those in a relationship were more likely to be happy and less likely to be overweight.
Other research shows men who divorce are more likely to put on weight.
TAME YOUR HORMONES
1. Get moving: Exercising at the right time of the menstrual cycle is important for women. University of Adelaide research shows that exercising at the
later menstrual phase burns more fat and helps women to feel less tired.
2. Get hypnotised: Doctors who treated a group of women with hot flushes with sessions of hypnotism say that the frequency and severity of the flushes
was significantly reduced.
3. Get tested: A new DIY test for the start of the menopause means that women will be able to start treatment months earlier. The simple test, similar
to a home pregnancy test, is designed to pick up the telltale early hormonal signs of the onset of the menopause. Research has now shown that the £8 test
is up to 99 per cent effective.
4. Try red clover extract: This can reduce the frequency of hot flushes, and its isoflavones, a type of phytoestrogens, are thought to be responsible for
the beneficial effect. The Dutch study, based on 30 women, showed that after four weeks, those who were taking the supplement had fewer symptoms.
5. Resist cravings: In women, progesterone can cause cravings, especially for carbohydrates. The reason women often have more cravings just before their
menstrual flow is that progesterone levels are at their highest. Don't buy the foods you crave the most.
6. Learn about the andropause: The medical jury is still out on whether men suffer a male version of the menopause. But research is increasingly showing
that men can benefit from testosterone replacement therapy in the form of patches, gels or implanted pellets.
7. Practise reiki: It is supposed to balance the various systems of the body, including the hormonal levels. Some work suggests that Reiki can normalise
menstrual cycles, reduce cramping and reduce hot flushes.
8. Take evening primrose oil: Used for pre-menstrual syndrome and mastalgia or sore breasts. Research results are conflicting, but some show a significant
reduction in breast pain.
9. Eat well: Flaxseeds are a good source of concentrated phytoestrogens and can reduce menopausal symptoms. Most fruit is rich in phytoestrogens, as is
soy.
10. Try melatonin: Described by Dr William Regelson as the natural, age-reversing, disease-fighting, sex-enhancing hormone, research suggests it can be
beneficial for men and women in mid-life to boost flagging hormone levels.. One team of researchers are using melatonin instead of progesterone in a new
form of HRT.
IMPROVE YOUR DIET
1. Spinach: Contains lutein, which helps to maintain healthy vision and is thought to offer protection against eye disorders. Also a good source of folic
acid, which helps prevent birth defects, including spina bifida.
2. Broccoli: Contains compounds that protect against cancer, as well as vitamins A and C. Also helps to lower cholesterol and maintain a healthy immune
system, and may offer some protection against bowel and thyroid cancer.
3. Brussels sprouts: Contain sinigrin, which is thought to offer protection against cancer. Vitamin B1, or thiamine, keeps the nerves and muscles healthy.
4. Watermelons: Contain the anti-cancer agent lycopene. Ripe, red flesh is the best indication of the most beneficial fruit.
5. Berries: The top three antioxidant fruits are blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. Called anthocyanins, these are thought to help against cancer.
Ellagic acid does the same.

6. Lettuce: Leaves contain fibre, folate, antioxidants and small amounts of important vitamins and minerals. Lollo Rosso has 100 times more antioxidants
than ordinary lettuce.
7. Carrots: Rich source of beta-carotene and alpha-carotene, which help to prevent cellular damage. Beta-carotene is thought to help the immune system..
Also contain vitamin A, vital for growth, healthy eyes, bones and skin. A deficiency can lead to mouth ulcers, dry eyes, night blindness and conjunctivitis.
8. Onions: Sulphur compounds -- which give off the strong smell in onions and garlic -- help to lower cholesterol and maintain a healthy immune system.
Onions also contain quercetin, a pigment that protects against heart disease. Yellow and red onions contain more.
9. Peppers: Contain capsaicinoids, which give peppers their spicy flavour. They are also one of the best sources of vitamin C.
10. Bananas: Can help to lower blood pressure, says the American Heart Association. Researchers say a diet high in potassium, calcium and magnesium --
all in bananas -- and low in fat and salt can reduce diastolic blood pressure, and lower the risk of stroke and heart disease.
BOOST YOUR LIBIDO
1. Take more exercise: Moderately strenuous exercise can increase libido in menopausal women, researchers claim, while academics at Boston University found
that walking briskly for two miles a day reduced a man's risk of developing erectile dysfunction.
2. Boost your androgens: Adding male hormones to HRT can restore falling libido in women. The decline of natural androgen levels after menopause is an
important factor in the decline of sexual interest, say researchers at Ghent University.
3. Use testosterone: Rub-on testosterone gels and patches have long-term benefits and can help men as young as 19. Research, based on men aged 19 to 67
who used a gel for three years, showed it had lasting and positive effects on libido. Some research shows a similar effect for women.

4. Watch 'The Godfather: Part ll' and stand clear: Libido-boosting testosterone levels in men increased by up to 30 per cent in men who watched this movie,
say University of Michigan researchers. Viewing a romantic film lowered testosterone, but increased levels of the attentive hormone progesterone..
5. Have a vasectomy: One of the earliest studies into the sexual effects of vasectomy found that men were twice as likely to have a rise in libido as a
loss of sex drive.
6. Eat oysters: The long-held belief that oysters are an aphrodisiac may be true, probably because of their high levels of zinc.
7. Consider pheromones: These natural body odours increase libido. Psychologists at San Francisco University, who added them to perfumes, found those
who had the pheromones had more sex and dates.
8. Take zinc supplements: University of Rochester researchers restored sperm counts and libido in infertile men using zinc supplements.
9. Learn about DHEA: Australian research has found that low levels of the hormone dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) are linked to low sex drive in women.
10. Have light therapy: A study at the University of California shows that one hour of bright light therapy can boost the levels of a pituitary hormone
that increases testosterone and libido in men.
LIVE LONGER
1. Shed some weight: For every excess kilogram you carry, you cut 20 weeks off your life expectancy. Doctors who have analysed 25 years of research claim
that this may explain why women, who generally have smaller bodies than men, live longer.
2. Be a vegetarian: Being vegetarian for 20 years or more adds four years to the average lifespan, according to a study based on 7,100 Adventists, who
largely do not eat meat. A UK report also shows lower mortality rates among vegetarians.
3. Have a happy marriage: Being happily married for more than 10 years increases life expectancy for both men and women. But divorce and remarriage raises
the risk of dying early, says a report in the journal Health Psychology.
4. And have an intelligent wife: Being married to a more intelligent woman can halve a man's risk of heart disease and premature death, according
to research based on 20,000 men.
5. Be religious: Regular worshippers live longer, and are generally healthier. The social aspect of religion is thought to be significant.
6. Get a pet: People with pets live longer. Pets make their owners feel optimistic, relaxed and less stressed, all of which lower blood pressure. Families
who own a dog or cat make fewer visits to their doctors, according to research at Cambridge University.
7. Avoid lie-ins: People who sleep for more than eight hours a day have shorter lives. According to research in the Archives of General Psychiatry, adults
who have between six and seven hours' sleep live longer.
8. Eat chocolate: People who eat chocolate live longer than those who eat sweets regularly or not at all, according to researchers at Harvard University.
This could be because chocolate contains phenols, which may protect against heart disease and cancer.
9. Move to the country side. A study at Tokyo Medical University shows that people whose homes look out on green spaces live up to five years longer than
those in built-up areas.
10. Have lots of kids: The more children a woman has, the longer she lives, says a report in The Psychology of Ageing. The increased contact with and
support from children and grandchildren in old age is thought to be a contributory factor.
LOOK YOUNGER
1. Look at your lifestyle: The key factors that make people look older, according to research by St Louis University, are being 20 pounds over- or underweight,
having cholesterol levels greater than 220, being unmarried and over 40, drinking caffeinated beverages and having depression.
2. Try botulinum toxin: Botox has replaced diamonds as the older girl's best friend, and is used to iron out and firm up wrinkles, foreheads, necks and
almost anything that moves more than it should.
3. Consider cosmetic surgery: Up to 70,000 people a year spend more than £200m going under the knife. Apart from face-and eye-lifts, lip jobs are among
the most effective. The £300-plus injections give a fuller, more youthful-looking mouth for women. Hair transplants are best for men.
4. Improve your diet: The 15 to 20 square feet of skin is the packaging that needs to look young. Drink eight to 10 pints of water a day and cut down
on fatty foods.
5. Avoid the sun: The sun gives skin that leathery look. "There are some women who look 20 years younger because they prevent sun damage, which causes
about 85 per cent of age-related skin changes1'' says Dr Richard Glogau, of the University of California.
6. Take more exercise: Research based on Japanese women, aged 20 to 70, showed that those who exercise regularly appeared five years younger. They had
better cardiovascular endurance and improved skin texture.
7. Have regular sex: Couples with a healthy sex life can look 10 years younger than those who don't, say researchers at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
It's thought to be because sex reduces stress and leads to better sleep.
8. Stay married: A happy marriage keeps people looking younger, say researchers in Canada who gave pictures of married, single, divorced and widowed men
and women to an "age jury". The marrieds looked younger.
9. Make music: Playing a wind instrument can improve muscle tone and appearance. It keeps skin taut and looking younger. An hour of blowing burns 200
calories.
10. Get a man about the house: Sharing her life with a man can help a woman to stay young and healthy. Researchers found that women who live with a man
have better immune systems. One theory is that it may be the effects of natural male odours, or pheromones.
BE CALMER
1. Take exercise: Vigorous, preferably aerobic, exercise can help counter stress and depression. The benefits start to show after about six weeks of exercise
five times a week.
2. Meditate: Research at the University of Michigan found that twice-daily transcendental meditation sessions help students to be calmer, feel happier
and get along better with other people.
3. Think positive: Positive thoughts make for a calmer and less irritable life. "If you wake up in a bad mood, then close your eyes and visualise the
day going smoothly1'' says Dr Dennis Gersten, a San Diego psychiatrist.
4. Have frequent sex: Women who have sex frequently are calmer. Researchers believe mood-changing chemicals in semen get into the bloodstream, and act
like an antidepressant.
5. Have sex young: German scientists found that the earlier in life a woman has sex, the less stressed she is as an adult. They found that the lowest
levels of stress hormone were among those who had had sex at the youngest age. A similar effect was found in men.
6. Listen to music: Music can be as effective as drugs at lowering blood pressure. Research at Harvard University shows that heart bypass surgery patients
need fewer drugs when music is played to them. Music also deepens breathing, which has a calming effect.
7. Sing: Communal singing is good for mind and body, say researchers at the University of Newcastle. As well as burning off 150 calories an hour, it improves
breathing and muscle tone, alleviates depression, stammering, stress, low self-esteem, asthma and chronic pain.
8. Eat carbs: Research shows that they increase levels of serotonin, which in turn regulates your mood.
9. Get a hobby: People who have a hobby are more relaxed and less irritable.. It's thought that the hobby provides a distraction from the pressurised
part of people's lives.
10. Eat out: Those who eat out with friends are less stressed and less depressed. A study in Germany showed that dining out formally acts as closure to
the day's stressful events.
GET FITTER
1. Exercise regularly: Daily exercise increases levels of good cholesterol, lowers high blood pressure, promotes healthy blood sugar levels, improves the
immune system, and works against cancer and heart disease. Try to get warm and slightly out of breath for about 30 minutes at a stretch.
2. Try pilates: Pilates is a system of about 500 controlled exercises that are said to engage the mind while conditioning the body. It is a blend of strength
and flexibility training that improves posture, reduces stress and creates lean muscles without bulk.
3. Learn yoga: Yoga can boost circulation, which positively affects the respiratory and nervous systems. It can also benefit people with arthritis, osteoporosis,
digestive disorders and depression.
4. Take a swim: Research at the University of Louisiana indicates that swimming may keep bones healthy. Post-menopausal women at risk of osteoarthritis
are advised to do weight-bearing exercises to strengthen bones, but swimming can also have a beneficial effect.
5. Have plenty of sex: Sexual intercourse burns up about 150 calories in half an hour compared with 114 for yoga and 129 for dancing. Sex boosts circulation
and counteracts stress.
6. Do t'ai chi: Some research suggests that t'ai chi ch'uan has beneficial effects on cardio-respiratory systems, muscles, joints and posture. It has
also been shown to reduce the likelihood of falls by its elderly practitioners.
7. Wear a pedometer: Scientists at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, found pedometers increased the incentive to get fit. Over 12 weeks
the resting heart rate of volunteers went down, and walkers lost inches off their waists. "It's like wearing a personal trainer on your waistband," says
Dr Suzanne Henson, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
8. Take up walking: Regular, brisk walking can reduce the amount spent on medication by 18 per cent, according to scientists in Japan. They found that
men and women aged over 40 who walked for up to an hour at a time were less prone to chronic diseases.
9. Keep moving: Simply walking a mile a day, or taking moderate exercise three times a week, substantially reduces the risk of heart disease, say researchers.
Sedentary people have almost double the risk of developing coronary artery disease.

10. Walk the dog: This gets rid of about 240 calories an hour. Studies also suggest that dog owners suffer less stress, have lower blood pressure, and
are happier.
GET ENERGETIC
1. Drink lots of water: Hydration has a big impact on energy levels. Research shows that ignoring thirst signals can lead to impaired physical performance,
a need for increased effort to do physical work and difficulty concentrating.
2. Eat a varied diet: The best food for boosting energy are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, yoghurt, peanut butter, soy and lean meats, say researchers
at the University of South Florida.
3. Have regular meals: People who skip meals often get tired because they experience blood-sugar swings resulting in fatigue. Eat at least three meals
a day.
4. Eat iron-rich foods: Iron is essential in the reactions that produce energy from food, and, if levels are low, the body may not be able to use all the
energy available. To improve iron absorption from foods such as meat and fish, eat them with foods rich in vitamin C, such as tomatoes.
5. Fill up on protein: Eating protein helps to prevent big fluctuations in blood-glucose levels after eating foods high in carbohydrate. It also blocks
the action of serotonin, a chemical messenger that induces feelings of fatigue. It may also increase levels of dopamine, a chemical in the brain that
contributes to alertness.
6. Snack on energy bars: Even a small energy bar may provide as many as 300 calories, mostly in the form of simple carbohydrates.
7. Get enough sleep: One of the biggest causes of low energy levels is not getting enough good sleep. Most people need seven to eight hours a night.
8. Have energy drinks: These are increasingly popular, and most contain large doses of caffeine and other legal stimulants.
9. Do aerobics: Aerobic activity trains the heart, lungs and cardiovascular system to deliver oxygen more quickly to every part of the body, which combats
fatigue.
10. Take supplements: A wide range of supplements are used to boost flagging energy, including coenzyme Q10, carnitine, fish oil and calcium. But scientific
evidence for their benefits is still thin on the ground.

Written by a Cop for Our Own Safety

Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your
life or a loved one's life.
In daylight hours, refresh yourself
of these things to do in an emergency situation...
This is for you, and for you to share with your wife,
your children, & everyone you know.
After reading these 9 crucial tips,
Forward them to someone you care about.
It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do :
The elbow is the strongest point
on your body.
If you are close enough to use it, do!
2.. Learned this from a tourist guide.
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.
Toss it away from you....
Chances are that he is more interested
in your wallet and/or purse than you,
and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car,
kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole
and start waving like crazy..
The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars
after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit
(doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.
DON'T DO THIS!)
The predator will be watching you, and this
is the perfect opportunity for him to get in
on the passenger side, put a gun to your head,
and tell you where to go.
AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR ,
LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE..

If someone is in the car
with a gun to your head
DO NOT DRIVE OFF,
Repeat:
DO NOT DRIVE OFF!
Instead gun the engine and
speed into anything, wrecking the car.
Your Air Bag will save you.
If the person is in the back seat
they will get the worst of it.
As soon as the car crashes
bail out and run.
It is better than having them find your body
in a remote location.
5. A few notes about getting
into your car in a parking lot,
or parking garage:
A.) Be aware:
look around you,
look into your car,
at the passenger side floor ,
and in the back seat.
B.) If you are parked next to a big van,
enter your car from the passenger door.
Most serial killers attack their victims
by pulling them into their vans while the women
are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car
parked on the driver's side of your vehicle,
and the passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone
in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back
into the mall, or work, and get a
guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid
than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator
instead of the stairs.
Stairwells are horrible places to be alone
and the perfect crime spot.
This is especially true at NIGHT!)
7. If the predator has a gun
and you are not under his control,
ALWAYS RUN!
The predator will only hit you (a running target)
4 in 100 times; and even then,
it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.
RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!
8. As women, we are always trying
to be sympathetic:
STOP
It may get you raped, or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking,
well educated man, who ALWAYS played
on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.
He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often
asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle,
which is when he abducted
his next victim.
9. Another Safety Point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard
a crying baby on her porch the night before last,
and she called the police because it was late
and she thought it was weird.. The police told her
'Whatever you do, DO NOT
open the door..'
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby
had crawled near a window, and she was worried
that it would crawl to the street and get run over.
The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way,
whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.'
He told her that they think a serial killer
has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax
women out of their homes thinking that someone
dropped off a baby.. He said they have not verified it,
but have had several calls by women saying that
they hear baby's cries outside their doors
when they're home alone at night.

10. Water scam!
If you wake up in the middle
of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a
burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your
outside taps full blast so that you will go out to investigate and
then attack.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbors!
Please pass this on
This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because
the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on
America 's Most Wanted when they profiled
the serial killer in Louisiana

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know.
It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle..
I was going to send this to the ladies only,
but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc.,
you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Send this to any woman you know that may need
to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it
and it's better to be safe than sorry..
Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or
a loved one's life.

I Must Get Out

Being a constant worrier, it's never easy to quit worrying. A lot of time, I still worry a lot as we human beings need to make our own decisions. But the Bible tell us not to worry. Matthew 11 verse 28-29 says"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
This verse of Scripture tell us that when we are willing to leave our burden to our Almighty God, He's willing to help us. Jesus is the only true way and life. He gives us true rest. When we are tired, we should go to Him. Jeremiah 33 verse 3 also tell us that if we call upon the Lord, He will show great and mighty things which we do not know. I'm still learning to depend on the Lord. Everyday, I worry how to make the best decision in life. Sometimes, there are many choices until I'm confused which choice is the best. For example, I'm worried whether I should stay in Kuching while waiting for STPM result to work as a volunteer in Blind Centre or go to KL for pre U course or go to Penang to learn ICT complete course for 6 months. I've to pray that God will give me wisdom to make the best decision. Since young, I started to see things on the negative side. I'm very pessimistic. I'm over sensitive. Most of the time, when people says something, I will keep on thinking what they say. I worry how people treat me. I worry about how people talk to me. I also worry about what people think about me until I'm afraid to do many things in life. But I must not let all my worries and sensitivity control me. I must get out. I must change my attitude towards things and people. I must fight for peace, fight for happiness, fight for joy in the Lord, fight to be a new Ruth, fight for strength, fight for positive thinking, fight for confidence. I must learn to be optimistic. I must be strong to face challenges. I've gone through lots of difficult times throughout my life since primary school. When I was in primary 1-6, I was always bullied by my friends and teachers. They also beat me badly until I cried. Sometimes, people say something to offend me. When I was in secondary school, I'd to face my teachers who were impatient and always shout and talked loud when teaching. To me, when a person is talking loud, it's rude. But all these challenges I'm going to face them one day especially when I step out to the society for a new life:working. My old method of worrying is useless. I'm wasting my life worrying which doesn't help me at all. Sometimes, I'm thinking whether what I say hurts others. I thought it's good to be sensitive to people's needs and feelings but it's not good to be too sensitive to what people say. Maybe sometimes people offend me as they want me to improve. Sometimes, I musn't look at the negative side of things. We are all imperfect. I must stay strong and tell myself that I must be positive. It's good to be positive in life. I hope to be the first blind people to share my testimony to the whole world. I've seen many people who had gone through hard times sharing their life and testimony. They are successful in the end. They are able to get out of their fear. I must learn to overcome my fear and be confident in myself. I must believe in myself. There's no point there many people advising me but I'm still the same:can't change myself. I've sought help from doctor, psychiatrist, pastors, friends and teachers. No matter how they advised me, I'm still the same. I always think I'm a failure. At last, someone told me that I'm the best person to solve my problems. Others can only advise me but to change myself is I myself. When I sat down to think, it's true what the person had said. Others have no power to control me:my thinking and my worries. I'm given a brain to think. Sometimes, I can solve the problems myself when it's related to small matter. I must know my identity. My identity is very important so I'll not bother whatever negative remarks people had said to me. When people force me not to sleep, God says I need to rest. I must listen and obey God's Word. I'm God's daughter and I'm myself. I can't be someone else. Most of the time, I need to be thankful for what God has given to me. I musn't grumble of what I don't have. I musn't grumble of my blindness as there are people who are worst than me. In all circumstances, learn to be thankful. The Bible says we must be thankful even the hardest time. It's not an easy test but if I'm willing to learn, God is willing to open a door for me. God is great. There are many things I need to learn in life. I know God is by my side. He will give me plan, a plan to prosper me and not harm me. I hope I can be a new person. I hope I can inspire others. I must learn to handle stress. When I went through my STPM exam, I tried to release stress by playing piano and singing praise and worship songs. I felt better and was stress free after that. I musn't look down on myself and be inferior of myself. I must show to people that I can. I can do it!! I can get out of my worry, pessimistic and sensitivity towards others' words. I hope to be like Nick Vujicic, a person who has no arms and legs. I hope one day I can share my testimony in the church.

Not Worth It

I found that everything I did before the exam wasn't worth it. As I've mentioned in my last post, I had hard time going through the exam. I was really sick and I didn't go to school for few days just because of friends who hurt me so much. I was really depressed and worried about everything in life. I worried what would happen to me tomorrow. I worried whether my friends and teachers would scold me tomorrow. and, not only that. I lived in fear everyday as I was afraid of challenges that I was going to face in school. I'd psychological problem that time. Now, I've to forgive my friends. Although it's difficult, it's worth it and it's a test to learn. I called my friends few times using my house phone to handphone. and guess what!! The bill was very expensive:Rm 90+. It's really not worth it. I talked to my friend for half an hour every time I called her and it's from house phone to handphone. My mum was really angry with me and asked me not to call anymore. I talked to her to ask how I could stop worrying and be less sensitive to peoples' remarks. As my eyes were hurt badly 2 weeks before the exam, especially my right eye, I went to see an eye specialist doctor in Kuching Specialist Hospital. For the first time, he checked my eye pressure and said that my left eye pressure was higher than my right eye. This pain was followed by severe headache and he gave me an eye drop. The following week, I went to see him again and he said that my eye pressure had dropped and my pain was caused by too mush stress and anxiety about my exam. I also couldn't sleep for few nights. Sometimes, I didn't sleep at all the whole night. The doctor was afraid to give me sleeping pill as it would affect my exam. The doctor told me, "Ruth, you've to learn to relax. Take a deep breath and calm down. You just need to try your best in your exam and don't worry or anxious." I asked the doctor, "If something happen to me and my eye is still painful during the exam, what should I do?" He said," You've to face the pain as the exam is only for few hours." He also told me that it's very normal to have nightmare when we sleep. Every time when I sleep, I always have nightmare and sometimes it's a horrible nightmare. As I saw the doctor for twice, it costs me Rm 100+. It's really not worth it and I thought the most important thing in life now is good health. Now, I know that I shouldn't get angry with people who've hurt me. I shouldn't be angry with little, little thing in life. I thanked God for doing miracle to me. God is Almighty and He knows my needs. I took supplements such as Vitamin C to supply me with energy during the exam. I should never blame on God when He gives me sufferings and pain as I believe He has His purpose. Maybe He's teaching me to be strong to face and overcome challenges in life and surrender all my worries to Him. Now, I can sleep well at night. and I'm more relax. I feel that worrying does not do anyone good. I've learned not to give up on God. I was also sick during my mock exam and I didn't do well in the exam. Luckily, during my real exam, I wasn't sick. I prayed and prayed and finally God helped me out. I know He's with me and always listening to my prayer. Sometimes, my prayer isn't answered as He's teaching me to be patient. God is good all the time. Indeed He's loving and I've to trust Him. So, friends, please do not give up on God when you face troubles as He's there to guard and listen to us. We've to seek him and He will help us. I'm sharing my testimony.
God bless everyone.

My Experience During My Exams

On the 19th of November, I sat for MUET examination. It was near to my STPM exam which started on the 21st Nov. For my MUET test, I sat for 3 papers :reading, writing and listening. As for the handicapped students, we were given half an hour extra time for each paper. I had an unlucky day during my exam especially listening test. It was raining very heavily in the afternoon and I couldn't listen to what the speaker spoke. but I can't control the rain. I worried whether it would rain during the exam and at last it rained. I realized that I couldn't do anything by worrying. I felt upset as listening was the easiest test for me. I'm wondering whether the invigilator would write comments and I could resit the test. I don't think I'm able to resit the test. As for the reading test, there were 45 questions and the answers were very confusing. I took more than 2 minutes to think of the answer. So, I didn't finish answering the questions. So, for the last 15 minutes, I just simply wrote the answers. I just shoot.. on the 21st Nov, I sat for P A essay paper. The first question was already very difficult and guess what!! I was shivering and nervous -wrecked. I kept sweating and shivering for more than 10 minutes just to think of the first question. The second essay was easier. I was wasting my time thinking of the answer for the first question. I should have went on to answer the rest of the questions first. but I didn't! so guess what!! I didn't finish answering my exam. the last question was very easy. the question is related to charts. I could do it but I didn't have enough time. and not only that.. The first day of my exam, there were some distractions. As the invigilator didn't enlarge the question paper for my partially blind friend, she ask them to read for her. I couldn't concentrate on my exam as she read for her too loud. However, I was afraid to tell the invigilator as I worried that my friend would scold me. After the exam was over,I was thinking why I should live for others. I should think of my future for my own good. I worried too much. there were another distraction. The grass cutter cut the grass during the exam and I was feeling very upset as P A was the most important subject to enter the university. It is a must to pass the P A exam. on the 23rd Nov, I sat for 2 papers:1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. In the morning, it was P P paper 1 and in the afternoon was B M essay. I did finish revising for the P P but when the question came out, I couldn't remember some that I studied. I was nervous and shiver again. I prayed God would give me the answer. However, I wasn't sure what I wrote was correct or wrong. as for the B M essay, I worried about the time aso I kept rushing for the time. So, I finished quickly but I worried what I wrote was correct or wrong. I worried how many mistakes I'd made during my exam. On the 24th Nov, I sat for my history paper 1. As there were too much to study for history, I didn't finish revising for my history. On the 30th Nov, I sat for PP paper 2. I could answer the question quite well but I don't want to be over confident now. on the 5th Dec, it was history paper 2. For every minute every second, I was sweating, my hands and legs were shivering as I didn't have ideas to write. It was indeed very suffering. I thought I could control my fear and nervousness. I think I'm going to fail my history exam. On the 13th Dec, I sat for P A paper 1, objective questions. Normally, the answer for objective questions would be very confusing. I took more than 2 minutes to think of the answers. At last, I didn't finish answering the question especially the ones with calculations. There were lots of tables for the question and the blind had difficulties to read as we needed longer time to figure out the tables. and, there was no electricity in the block I took my exam so we had to shift to another room. so, my exam started later by 10 minutes than normal students. I just wrote any answer for the last 10 questions but as the last question, I didn't answer as the invigilator said the exam ended. actually, my hand was already placed on my brailler machine preparing to write the answer. However, I was too afraid to write as the time ended. I was so upset and worried if I could get good result for my P A. I felt so angry with myself. On the 14th Dec, it was my last day of my exam. The B M objective questions were quite easy but I was still worried. There was 1 part that was difficult as it was hard to understand. For all the subjective questions, it took 3 hours 55 minutes and for objective questions, it took 2 hours 40 minutes. Now, I just have to leave everything to God. I've done my best and I couldn't undo them. There is no point worrying.
